Get credit for what you already know

Going back to school doesn’t mean starting from nothing. Not all college-level learning takes place in the classroom. You may be able to earn college credit for knowledge and skills you already have.

You've done a lot in your life - and you've learned a lot along the way which means a degree or certificate may be closer than you think.

Many Colorado educators allow you to earn credit through Prior Learning Assessment. Prior Learning Assessment is a term used to describe learning gained outside a traditional classroom environment. Put another way, it's learning and knowledge you got through work, participating in employer training programs, serving in the military, studying independently, volunteering or doing community service, or studying open source courseware.

In short, PLA is the evaluation and assessment of your life learning for college credit, certification, or advanced standing toward further education or training.
